Various artists will commemorate Africa Day and celebrate the life of the late Noel Daniels, a committed educator and passionate arts supporter, on Friday May 26 at the District Six Homecoming Centre in Buitenkant Street, at 7pm.
The programme, hosted by the Cape Cultural Collective (CCC), Cornerstone Institute, and the District Six Museum, will feature music, dance and poetry.
Artists performing on the night will include bow player and singer Odwa Bongo; singer Ernestine Deane; dancers Elvis Sibeko, Darion Adams, and Darkroom Contemporary; poets Khadija Heeger and Vusumuzi Mpofu, Cape Cultural Collective’s Triple C Ensemble, and Cornerstone Institute staff and students.
Daniels, a former CCC board member, and CEO of Cornerstone Institute, passed away on April 18. The host organisations will also do a visual tribute to several other people from their ranks who passed away recently and contributed to the sector.
There is no entry fee to the event but donations are welcome. Food and refreshments will be on sale.
