September means spring and flowers and this year you can look at southern African flora through the eyes of top, local botanical artists.

The Botanical Artists Association of South Africa presents an exhibition of contemporary botanical artwork called PLANT along with a separate section,The Bug Room, full of insect illustrations, at the Old Mutual Conference Centre, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, from Friday September 16 to Sunday September 25.

The exhibition is co-ordinated by well-known artist Vicki Thomas, and assisted by Carin Malan, who has curated botanical art exhibitions at Elgin.

Entry to the exhibition is free and is open to the public from Saturday September 17, 9.30am to 5pm daily.

Gillian Condy, resident botanical artist at the South African Biodiversity Institute, will be demonstrating scientific botanical painting at the exhibition, so you can see a master artist at work. Botanical artists will be available to discuss works and show visitors around. You will also be able to buy prints and cards.
