■ Ethnomusicologist Dizu Plaatjies, drag artist Manila von Teez and blues guitarist Elton Goslett, pictured, are among the line-up for the Cape Cultural Collective’s April programme, Shades of Freedom at the Slave Church Museum in Long Street tomorrow, Friday April 21, at 7pm. The audience will also be entertained by Blackroots Marimba, a UCT trained group and vocalist Aziza Davids, from Manenberg. The spoken word component of the evening will be represented by wordsmith Romeo Maasdorp, slam poet Siphosethu Phikelela and the youthful poet and rapper Vusumuzi Mpofu. The Buya Afrika drummers from Langa will kick off the evening with their energetic rhythms. There will be food on sale. Entry is free and donations are welcome. The event will be livestreamed.
