Christ Church Constantia will host a Christmas concert with an orchestra and visiting international soloists, on Friday December 14.
The concert will open with Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, after which the visiting Texan double-bass virtuoso, Jeff Bradetich, will play Bottesini’s Concerto no. 2 in B minor. This is widely considered the greatest concerto written for the instrument.
After the interval, ensemble-music expert and double bassist Gudrun Raschen will perform Piazzolla’s Contrabajeando and Bottesini’s Elegy. The grand finale is Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos, featuring local cellist and international star, Peter Martens, with Jeff Bradetich. A glass of wine is included. The concert starts at 8pm. Tickets are R130 in cash at the door or may be booked through Quicket.
