Principal flautist of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (CTPO), Gabriele von Durckheim, and award-winning pianist Luis Magalhães, present The Dark Side of the Flute, at Christ Church Constantia, on Sunday August 4, at 3pm.
The recital programme includes works by Bach, Schubert, Prokofiev, Jolivet and Fauré.
Gabriele has performed as soloist with the CTPO and Camerata Tinta Barocca and as chamber musician with local and international musicians.
Portuguese pianist Luis started playing at the age of 5. He has won several prizes at national and international level, including first at the Maria Campina Competition and for the best performance of Rachmaninoff at the 2002 Russian Music International Piano Competition, in America.
A concert pianist since the age of 9, Luis has given many recital, concerto and chamber music performances in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
