The Lady Day Big Band will perform at Christ Church Constantia on Sunday June 5, at 3pm.
The brainchild of jazz musicians Lana Crowster, Amanda Tiffin and Kerry Bell, the Lady Day Big Band is one of few big bands in South Africa. Comprised solely of women, it takes its name from Billie Holiday, who was nicknamed Lady Day by her musical partner, Lester Young.
This concert is co-directed by trombonist Kelly Bell and vocalist Amanda Tiffin and will also feature up-and-coming vocalist Anathi Mobo. Expect to hear songs ranging from swing classics, ballads and pop to vibrant South African jazz grooves.
Tickets are R130 and are available on Quicket or call Anne at 082 218 0100.
