Magic returns to Maynardville

Maynardville’s stage will return to life with a once-off picnic and performance on Saturday March 26. Called, Igniting Maynardville, the evening will be different to the usual Maynardville experience. The chairs will be removed to make way for ticket holders to bring their cushions and picnic blankets to enjoy a picnic as they watch the performance of a series of three 10-minute excerpts from Janni Younge’s new production of Hamlet performed through life-size puppets.The outdoor theatre was shuttered during lockdown and is working towards a more sustainable return in 2023. There will be limited tickets at R120 each with a VIP package of two tickets, a picnic and Diemersfontein wines for R1 200. Ticket-holders other than those with a VIP package should bring their own picnics and picnic blankets. The greater Maynardville Park will also remain open to the public to picnic for free. The ticketed picnic area opens at 6pm, and the show starts at 7.30pm.Tickets are available on Quicket.
