Poetry reading

The Red Wheelbarrow Poetry Collective will hold a poetry reading by Kelwyn Sole at Tokai library, at 47 Tokai Road, on Wednesday October 18, at 7pm. Sole’s first collection of poems, The Blood of Our Silence, won the Olive Schreiner Prize and his seventh, Walking, Falling, won the South African Literary Award for Poetry. His eighth and most recent collection, Skin Rafts, was shortlisted for the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences Prize. Individual poems have won the Thomas Pringle, Sydney Clouts and Dramatic, Artistic and Literary Rights Organisation (Dalro) awards. He will be reading a selection of poems from his books, as well as from more recent and unpublished work. The reading will be followed by an open-mic session for poets from the audience.
