For the Chinese, it’s the Year of the Pig, but for Christ Church Constantia, it’s definitely the “Year of the Butternut”. That particular vegetable was present in abundance at the Harvest Festival services on Sunday February 24. The Archdeacon of Constantia, the Venerable Terry Lester thanked all who had donated vegetables, fruit and tinned goods, making such a colourful display in the sanctuary. “Generosity is a gift of God,” he told the congregation. This year’s beneficiary was the Douglas Murray Home for the Aged in Retreat.
