Oscars Arc Woof Project, which helps dogs from shelters find good homes, held a pop-up adoption drive at Constantia Village at the weekend, and it plans to return for the next two weekends.
Project leader Chanel Fourie said 40 dogs were re-homed this past weekend.
Oscars Arc is a registered charitable trust founded by Joanne Lefson in 2017. It is named in honour of her adopted dog and best friend, Oscar, who travelled around the world visiting 45 countries to promote dog adoption.
Highlights of the 2009 World Woof Tour included Oscar walking the Great Wall of China, climbing Machu
Picchu, sailing the Amazon, posing before Red Square, hang gliding over Rio and tying the knot in Las Vegas.
Oscar’s travels made him the international ambassador for homeless dogs, raising awareness of their plight.
Ms Lefson said all dogs, with the exception of puppies under six months of age, were vaccinated and sterilised.
“We always say, no matter what dog you are looking for, we will find it for you. However we need funding to do this,” said Ms Lefson.
