The Salvation Army responds to their plight by providing blankets, warm clothes and hot soup throughout the winter.
Major Carin Holmes, the public relation secretary of The Salvation Army, said: “Our ministry of soup kitchens and providing blankets and food is a lifesaver for many homeless people. There are many reasons why people end up living on the streets, from jobless-
ness to substance abuse. Our ministry is to provide whatever comfort we
Major Holmes appealed to members of the public to support The Salvation Army in this outreach. “Even a small donation can go a long way towards helping those not as fortunate as yourself, and we ask you to be generous in your giving,” she added.
Donations of warm clothing and blankets can be taken to your local Salvation Army corps (church).
