Wynberg Boys’ Junior School is running an incentive campaign to get its pupils to carry out good deeds.
The “Brother of the Week” campaign, which has a toy store partner, rewards youngsters who exhibit exemplary qualities and are recognised as role models by their peers.
Reuben Maart and Bruce Igilige were most recently nominated for their acts of goodness each receiving the title “Brother of the Week” and a toy store voucher.
Reuben was recognised for handing in R100 that he had found and Bruce for voluntarily cleaning the school’s corridors.
“The school’s ‘Brother of the Week’ is a pupil who displays the true characteristics of a Wynberg boy. This award is not for sporting or cultural excellence, but rather the actions of a good deed,” said Grade 7 teacher Gareth Jordan.
According to Mr Jordan, the campaign’s name was inspired by lyrics from the school song, which refers to Wynberg pupils as “brothers in an endless chain.”
