Care for the homeless

Project Azalea, a feminine hygiene campaign started by sisters Danika Foster and Megan Morgan, handed out care packs to homeless women on Saturday July 30. They had collected about 30 care packs with the help of the community and neighbourhood watches. During the handover, the sisters were accompanied by Southfield and Plumstead Neighbourhood Watch patrollers, Diep River police reservists and personel from four security companies. The group moved through Southfield, Plumstead and Diep River donating the packs to the homeless women at the places they were known to frequent. “We handed out about nine care packs which even consisted of tins of soup and beans, lotions and body products, after the successfull drive,” Ms Morgan said. Project Azalea is planning a second drop-off to distribute the remaining care packs. ‘We would like to thank all the patrollers for joining our convoy and a very special thank you to Diep river police for leading the way. The turn-out was way bigger than what we could have hoped for and we can’t thank everyone enough for showing their support and helping to make a difference,” Ms Morgan said.
