A three-year-old child was among the three people injured when their vehicle rolled and crashed into a tree on Rhodes Drive in Constantia on Saturday evening, January 12, at about 6.30pm.
The child was seriously injured and taken to Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital for treatment.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics, along with Metro and other services, arrived on the scene to find the vehicle on the side of the road against a tree.
A woman, believed to be in her 20s, was found lying outside the vehicle while a man, also in his 20s, along with a young girl was found trapped inside the vehicle,” he said
Metro Rescue services had to use specialised equipment to free the two trapped patients from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to nearby hospitals for further treatment,” Mr Meiring said.
Wynberg Police spokesperson Captain Ntomboxolo Lindipasi said no case has been opened regarding this accident.
She said the gold Toyota Avanza lost control after a tyre burst and collided with the tree.The two adults were only slightly injured and taken to Groote Schuur hospital for treatment.
* A Plumstead resident was mugged in Naruna Crescent, Plumstead, at about 9.15am, on Saturday January 12.
Diep River police spokesperson Constable Zak Marais confirmed the incident and says the complainant was approached by two men who asked him for a cigarette.
One of them then took out a knife and threatened the resident before taking his bag and fleeing.
The man opened a case the following day. Sergeant Marais, no injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
The resident’s sister says she knows the identity of the men who are believed to live nearby.
She says a resident who stays in nearby Churchill Road was robbed at knife-point at the corner of Cassino and Totnes roads. Sergeant Marais did not confirm this incident as he does not have the date, name and case number.
