Wynberg Boys’ High pupil Justin Chesterton, 15, pictured centre, won the Youth Men A category at the 2018 Spur Schools MTB League Inter-Schools Final held at Magaliesberg at the weekend. In second place was Justin Vosloo, right, of Windhoek Gymnasium in Namibia and third place went to Aidan Penfold, pictured left, from Paul Roos Gimnasium in Stellenbosch. The Spur Schools MTB League, now in its 10th year, covers nine South African provinces and takes place from May to October each year. Since its inception, the league has seen over 70 000 entries and participation from over 500 schools. The league was launched in 2009 by Spur Steak Ranches and Amarider to promote MTB as an official in-school sport, and is currently the biggest inter-schools MTB league in the world.
