The Westlake United Church Trust was recently blessed with 80 big food boxes as part of a joint venture between the City of Cape Town and the Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA), which they handed out to the vulnerable on their programmes at their community centre in Westlake. The PSFA supplies groceries to schools in the province that serve meals to vulnerable children, as part of their school-feeding scheme. Veloshni Baker, general manager of the trust, said they were really stunned at having been chosen “and it could not have arrived at a better time.” Sister Nicci Woodbridge and Lawrence Tapfumaneyi of the trust’s home-based care department and Yvonne Nyamavaka, the trust’s childcare co-ordinator, handed out the food boxes to the happy adults and children who carried it out on trolleys, skateboards and by hand. All in all, it was a wonderful spirit of caring and sharing, said Ms Baker.
