Four in court for possession of stolen car, illegal guns

Police two men fled the scene of the crime and were arrested later sitting in a stolen car in the Blue Route Mall parking lot.

Four men appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges relating to the possession of a stolen car and unlicensed guns and ammunition.

According to Kirstenhof police spokeswoman Sergeant Deidre Solomon, the four, aged 28 to 33, are accused of breaking into a Kirstenhof home and stealing a car. They were arrested last Friday.

Two of the accused were arrested outside the house in Kirstenhof.

Police say the other two men fled and were arrested later sitting in a stolen car in the Blue Route Mall parking lot. When officers searched the vehicle, they allegedly found two unlicensed guns.

Jade Hanning, a Fidelity ADT manager, said their armed-response officers had worked with other security firms and neighbourhood watch members to track the two suspects to the mall, and they had then alerted SAPS.
