Help police find lead on body found in river

The body of a 74-year-old woman from Retreat was found floating in the Keyser River, in Dreyersdal, on Tuesday October 8.

Police received a report about the body at 11am and reported to the river, where they found the woman dead, said police spokesperson Siyabulela Malo.

An inquest docket has been opened.

Investigating officer Captain Paul Alexander said the woman’s family identified her body the next day.

“The woman is from Retreat, and it is alleged that she had been discharged from hospital the day before her body was found in the river,” said Captain Alexander.
