The Rosa Choir will perform on Saturday August 26 at the Novalis Ubuntu Institute, 39 Rosmead Avenue, Wynberg, at 7.30pm.
The concert will also feature the Junior Rosa Choir, a group of children from across the Cape, aged between 10 and 14 years.
TheRosaChoiris oneofmanyprojectsof theCapeCulturalCollective (CCC) and they sing in three languages. Their repertoire includes Stand by Me, Suikerbossie, Pata Pata, Shosholoza, Lean on Me, Asimbonanga, I Believe, This Land is Ours, Love, oh Love and Will you be there.
The adult and junior choirs draw their members from across the Cape, including Manenberg, Langa, the northern suburbs, Athlone, the City Bowl, the southern suburbs and Muizenberg.
“Join us for an evening of wonderful music and togetherness, as we pay tribute to women and celebrate our common humanity,” said CCC secretary, Elizabeth Schutter.
The CCC is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
The highlight takes place on Thursday September 21 at Artscape with a celebratory production called The Big Bash, featuring several top artists.
The CCC’s projects include monthly cultural programmes; a poetry anthology; the Rosa adult and junior choirs; four major celebration concerts for UWC’s 50th anniversary; the Uhadi poetry production performed in Paris in 2013; and cultural tourism initiatives.
The Novalis concert celebrates the CCCs 10th anniversary and the fifth anniversary of the Rosa Choir.
There will be food on sale. Entry is free and donations are welcome.
