Few Constantia Valley residents are aware of the buzzing sewing room in the Drill Hall, in Westlake Village, where industrious crafters make magic with fabric, beads and thread. The Sewing Room project is run by the Westlake United Church Trust. The trust provides work and training for sewers and crafters in the area. It’s an industrious enterprise with plenty of knitting, beading, sewing and screen-printing going on. Outlets for items include Green Beans in Westlake, Phulani in Khayelitsha, Molly and Mason at Steenberg and, more recently, The Range; Friday evening markets.
