A Constantia man has been arrested for being in possession of uncut diamonds.
Police pulled over a black
BMW 750 on the corner of Adderley and Strand streets, on Wednesday November 16, for not having valid licence plates, said police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk.
The 51-year-old man apparently could not produce any car registration documents.
“During a preliminary investigation, the driver of the vehicle got out and took something out of his pocket and attempted to hand it over to his friend,” said Captain Van Wyk.
Officers noted the attempted exchange and confiscated the plastic packet and found 12 uncut diamonds inside.
The driver could not account for how he obtained them and was arrested.
