Armed men hijacked a Plumstead man as he parked in his driveway, say police.
He was closing the driveway gate, on Friday June 9, at 9.50pm, when he noticed a dark-coloured vehicle with no licence plate parked nearby.
Three men, two carrying guns, climbed out of the car and ordered the man to unlock his front door. When he told them he was unable to, the men took his iPhone 6 cellphone and drove off in his car.
Detective Sergeant Arnold Bosch of Wynberg police said the hijackers were still at large. Anyone with information can call him at 021 710 7360.
* A Plumstead man startled an intruder in his Ferguson Road garage as he arrived home on Tuesday June 13, at 11.55am.
The prowler jumped over a neighbour’s fence and ran off, according to Diep River police spokeswoman Sergeant Amanda Gordon.
Members of the public later caught a suspect who was identified by the homeowner. The police arrested the Valhalla Park man on a burglary charge.
* APlumsteadwoman returning to her Avenue Dumidi home, on Wednesday June 14, at 8.50pm, found it had been burgled.
Sergeant Gordon said the front door had been forced open with a blunt object.
The woman reported her gold watch, a pair of shoes and a DVD player missing.
Police later arrested four men from Philippi and Nyanga who were found with the items resembling those stolen.
* A gold Toyota Etios with a fake licence plate was spotted by a licence plate recognition camera in Diep River on June 19.
Law enforcement volunteers closed in on the car after being alerted to its location, but it sped off when officers switched on their blue lights.
The car headed for Diep River Main Road where SAPS officers were waiting for it and arrested the occupants.
