SASA is the oldest organisation of its kind in the country. It was first founded in May 1897 but ceased to function after the outbreak of the South African war in 1899 only to be reincarnated in September 1902. This date is now recognised as the society’s official establishment. SASA has a membership of over 480 who come from as far afield as Johannesburg, Durban and East London and also one in Perth, Australia. The SASA Merit award exhibition takes place in the Richard Crowie Hall, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, until Sunday February 4, from 10am to 5.30pm. Entry to the exhibition is free after paying entry to the garden. Contact 021 671 8941 or email secretary@sasa-artists.co.za
