Victoria Hospital staff were treated to cool drinks and snacks last Friday to thank them for their work on the Covid-19 front line.
The Hospital Heroes Project and Gift of the Givers donated the refreshments.
The project, according to Gift of the Givers project manager Ali Sablay, raises money for the cool drinks and snacks which are then given to medical staff. Gift of the Givers packs the food and drink for delivery to various hospitals.
The gesture, said Khilona Radia, co-founder of the project, was meant to lift the spirits of doctors and nurses as they spent long and lonely hours caring for Covid-19 patients.
Victoria Hospital nurse Heather de Wet and Dr Graeme Dunbar accepted the donation on behalf of their colleagues and said it was a much-needed morale booster.
As of Wednesday January 27, the provincial Health Department had recorded 433 active Covid-19 cases among its health-care workers and 109 deaths.
