The Open Mosque in Wynberg celebrated its third anniversary on Friday September 29 with
a jumu’ah sermon delivered by Bishop Dr Malkhaz Songulashvili, head of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia and pastor of the Peace Cathedral in Tbilisi.
BishopSongulashvili opened his sermon with a recitation from the Qu’ran in Arabic and then covered the concept of monotheism in Christianity and Islam and the spirit of inclusion among thethreeAbrahamic faiths, Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The service was followed by a celebratory lunch.
At the Peace Cathedral in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, Bishop Songulashvili is building an attached mosque and
an adjoining synagogue to the main building.
