Constantia resident Rob Packham has been convicted today of the murder of his wife Gill Packham on February 22 last year. He is accused of acting with dolus directus, when an accused is taken to have objectively foreseen the consequences of his/her act.
He had pleaded not guilty to counts of murder and defeating the ends of justice in the death of his wife when the trial began on Monday March 11 at the Western Cape High Court.
As he left Court 6 in handcuffs, daughter Nicola mouthed the words, “I love you”.
The case will return to court on Tuesday May 21 for sentencing procedures.
