The Cape Peninsula Baboon Management Joint Task Team is seeking nominations for representatives to serve on a baboon advisory group.
The task team, comprising representatives from SANParks, CapeNature, and the City of Cape Town, finalised a series of public discussions about a baboon management plan last month, and in a statement, on Thursday July 4, it said anyone with a direct interest in baboon management on the south peninsula could now nominate representatives to serve on the Cape Peninsula Baboon Advisory Group
Formally constituted groups and organisations such as ratepayers’ associations, academic and research institutions, as well as NGOs or NPOs with a direct and special interest in the south peninsula’s baboon population were encouraged to submit nominations.
The advisory group will give guidance to the task team and keep communication channels open between it and the affected communities.
Nomination forms, which are available on the City, SANParks and CapeNature websites, should be submitted to cpbmjtt@sanparks.org before midnight on Wednesday July 31.
