When reading the letter about the poor service from Martins bakery in last week’s Bulletin, (“Bad service”, May 25) I felt compelled to share the experience I have had while shopping there over the years.
I have been visiting Martins since I was four years old when it was in its old location down the road.
Over the ensuing 28 years my mother and I have shopped there on a regular basis and have only ever experienced friendly, helpful and professional service from John and Teresa, as well as from Mr Martins when he used to spend time in the shop.
I was living away from Cape Town for about six years, and whenever I came home and visited Martins I was immediately recognised and greeted by the staff and owners. Over this period I cannot remember having experienced poor service, and have only ever felt welcomed and valued when shopping there.
It has been wonderful to see the family run business thrive and expand over time and I plan to continue shopping there for many years to come.
