Victoria Hospital rocked on Friday May 12 as nurses celebrated International Nurses Day. Head of nursing Patrick Jephta spoke of this year’s theme of leadership before he and Anthea Michaels lit a lamp, the symbol of Florence Nightingale who is considered the founder of modern nursing. Then about 140 nurses, in three shifts, recited the Nurses’ Pledge of Service.
This was followed by team-building as music was turned on and nurses were invited to dance and imitate Beyoncé to much laughter, applause and cheers. They then tucked into breakfast before leaving with a gift donated by local organisations and the doctors. Reporter KAREN WATKINS captured the fun.
