The public has until Friday June 7 to comment on the City’s proposals for one-way road conversions in Kirstenhof and Southfield and other parts of the city.
The City plans to convert 13 roads within five sub-councils in the northern and southern suburbs to improve traffic flow near schools.
“One-way road conversions are a great tool in safeguarding road users in our communities. These measures enhance pedestrian safety, alleviate congestion during peak periods and increase parking availability. These conversions will also benefit schools that have a higher number of vulnerable road users during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups,” said mayoral committee member for urban mobility Rob Quintas.
An information day to discuss the plans for Baartmans and Pretorius streets in Southfield will be held at the Retreat civic centre on Tuesday June 4, from 4pm to 7pm. The information day to discuss the plans for Aandwind and Silverwater streets in Kirstenhof will be held at Kirstenhof Primary School on Wednesday June 5, from 3pm to 6pm.
