Victoria Hospital’s Abundant Life Palliative Care programme has received a R200 000 cash injection.
The funds were raised by Wynberg businessman Rashmi Kooverjee and an Ottery bakery.
They have supported the programme since 2021 through the sale of festive cakes.
Mr Kooverjee presented a R200 000 cheque to the programme during a celebratory handover at the hospital last month.
The aim, he said, was to raise R1 million for a legacy fund from which monthly interest could be used to run the programme.
“This year has been a great success as we made a net profit of R200 000,” he said.
Hospital CEO Jonathan Vaughan thanked Mr Kooverjee for his “tireless support” for the programme.
“The growth of the legacy fund will secure these services to the community for future years,” he said.
