Blue Moon Montessori School in Galway Road, Diep River, is appealing to neighbouring communities to support Lavender Hill beyond Mandela Day, which was on Tuesday July 18.
They are asking people to pledge a book for R67, and if companies get involved, they ask them to match the employees’ donation.
The donor will receive a book to wrap as a gift and to write a personalised message of motivation for the child who will receive it. Blue Moon hopes to deliver 6 700 books so that every child at school in Lavender Hill will receive a book to take home. Funds raised will go towards the establishment of a school, Rock of the Hills, and supporting parent empowerment programmes.
