The police have appealed to the public to assist them with a hit-and-run incident in a which a 79-year-old man was injured.
The man was crossing the road after climbing out of a taxi on Spaanschemat River Road, in Constantia, at about 1.30 pm, on Sunday October 20, when he was knocked over by a vehicle, says Kirstenhof police spokesperson Sergeant Deidre Solomon.
“The only information that police have in regards to the vehicle is that it’s white in colour. No number plate or make of the vehicle was received from the victim.
“A case of hit and run was registered at Kirstenhof SAPS, and we are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any details of the vehicle to please come forward.”
According to the victim’s statement, he was thrown to the middle of the road, and the driver of the white vehicle sped off. Two passers-by stopped to help him, and he was taken to Victoria Hospital to treat injuries to his right leg.
