Constantia artist Michaela Irving, who entered the 2021 Portrait Award Competition hosted by Rust-en-Vrede Gallery in Durbanville, has had her portrait of her partner and muse Rodger Bosch, from Thornton, titled Corvidae, selected for the Portrait 100 exhibition, which opened at the Rupert Museum in Stellenbosch on Saturday September 4. Ms Irving described herself as “lucky enough to be part of it”.
This biennial competition is open to all resident South African artists and aims to increase public awareness and appreciation for the art of portraiture, as well as to give South African artists an opportunity for further exposure.
