The Rotary Club of Wynberg is supporting the staff of three essential services who have sacrificed their time with their families during the national lockdown to ensure others are cared for.
They donated hampers to staff of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, Victoria Hospital and volunteer paramedics at Community Medics.
The club delivered the first lot of hampers, which not only included essential food items and some toiletries, but also a chocolate to the Cape of Good Hope SPCA along with nearly 80kg of dog and cat food last Wednesday April 22.
These hampers will provide essential food items for the 23 staff staying on the premises of the SPCA in Grassy Park to look after the animals during lockdown.
‘”We would like to thank Pick * Pay Gabriel Road (Plumstead) who put the hampers together. Feedback from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA chief executive officer, Moyo Ndukwana, was that the staff were thrilled with their hampers,” said Rotarian Stacy Edwards.
The club will also be donating funds to Community Medics to buy vital hand sanitisers to protect their volunteers when they respond to emergencies.
“We will also be providing bottled water and cereal bars to the staff at Victoria Hospital who are in the front line 24/7 when it comes to providing essential medical services to the population of the Southern Peninsula,” said Ms Edwards.
