Four men entered the Foschini store, on the ground floor of Blue Route Mall at about 2pm, on Friday October 30, and made off with several cellphones worth about R40 000, say police.
Kirstenhof police spokeswoman, Sergeant Deidre Solomon, said when the shop assistant came forward to assist, the one man pretended to be a customer and made enquiries about purchasing a cellphone. The other robbers came up behind the shop assistant and held a gun to his back.
The men took cellphones as well as the assistant’s cellphone and fled the scene.
No shots were fired and no one was injured. The case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.
In a statement, Blue Route Mall management, Redefine Properties, said: “We’re grateful that all store customers and employees are safe. We are co-operating with law enforcement on their investigation. The safety of our customers, tenants and employees remains our highest priority.”
