Taking their lead from Plumstead artist Andrew van der Merwe, about 20 people spent New Year's day making a massive sand sculpture if a python on Noordhoek beach. Van der Merwe did the scales of the 10m-long, 4m-wide African Rock Python. The group which included six professional artists and several other talented people, worked for about six hours to finish the sculpture. The project was captured by drone and time-lapse photographs.
