Stephanie Yates, Tokai
I refer to your front page article (“Sarda faces final notice,” Bulletin October 25).
While I feel sympathy with families that were forcibly removed from their land, I have to ask why, in this case, the Sadien family have been awarded Erf 142, which they never owned or occupied prior to the Group Areas Act.
Their farm was Sillery Farm.
The piece of land in question was never the home or farm of any other family but designated as a school site way back and is still zoned education.
It seems illogical to demand that Sarda move off the land when they fulfil such a vital need for all
these severely handicapped children from all different backgrounds.
