South Peninsula High School (SP) hosted its annual science evening for parents last Wednesday, August 8. The event is used to prepare pupils for the Expo for Young Scientists to be held at the University of Cape Town (UCT), on Saturday August 18 and Sunday August 19. Saeed Slamdien, science teacher at SP, said the science evening allows pupils to articulate their scientific research to a broad audience of parents. It also helps pupils to develop the necessary confidence in public speaking. “The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists regional event at UCT has over 400 participants from various schools across Cape Town. The event provides budding future scientists with the opportunity to showcase their scientific skills and learn from the discoveries of their peers.” Pictured are the group of budding scientists who qualified to take part in the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists regional event at UCT, this weekend.
