Sisters Sarah and Anna Dunn are riding the 109km Cape Town Cycle Tour on a tandem for the charity Home from Home.
Calling themselves the Dynamic Durr Duo, these sisters, who live in Constantia, have created a drive named Challenge me for Charity.
They plan to raise as much as they can in exchange for fun challenges, which they will try to complete on race day, Sunday March 6.
“We’re planning to make a fool of ourselves by getting very creative and dressing up and having blaring music,” said Sarah, 23.
This will be her fourth Cycle Tour and the second one she is doing for charity.
The first was in 2010 when, as a Springfield Convent School pupil and vice chair of their Interact Club, she Pedalled for Poverty.
For Anna, 21, who is doing her sixth Cycle Tour, she said they are supporting Home from Home, located in Plumstead, because of the work they do to provide loving, safe homes for orphaned, abused and neglected children.
So how can you get involved? Sarah and Anna are challenging people to challenge them.
In exchange for a donation they will complete any challenges assigned to them during the build- up to the Cycle Tour and the best five challenges – the craziest, most fun, most daring, will be completed on race day.
As suggestions they say this could be to paint themselves blue, to do Suikerbossie twice -are they mad – to take a selfie with 15 different spectators, to swim in both the Atlantic and Indian Ocean on the ride or for Anna to find a date by the Cycle Tour finish line.
“We’re willing to do anything, no matter how weird or wonderful, as long as it complies with the Cycle Tour rules and Home from Homes’ code of conduct,” said Sarah.
