The Thula Baba Project, a non-profit organisation that supports mothers from poor communities, held a special day for mothers, babies and grandmothers, at their premises in Tokai on Saturday.
Founder Caroline Isted says the goal for this year is to make up gift packs for at least half of the mothers who give birth at Mowbray Maternity Hospital each year.
The mothers receive the hampers when they graduate from a 10-week antenatal course.
Thula Baba Project always needs newborn clothing, baby products and nappies, money to buy material to make blankets and baby-grows and small soaps and wash cloths for mothers.
