At about 4am on Tuesday October 30, a woman in Southfield Road, Plumstead, was woken by the noise of her garage door opening. Going to investigate she found unknown persons in her garage.
Diep River police spokesperson, Constable Zak Marais, said the local security service provider arrived and found two men aged 37 and 39 who they then handed over to the police.
A case of house break-in was opened on the scene and is currently being investigated.
Constable Marais said they would like to thank Combat Force for their assistance in the apprehension of the suspects and the Constantia Valley information centre control room for their co-ordinated and shared network with Diep River police and its partnerships in the fight against crime.
* On Monday October 29, Diep River SAPS members, Sergeant, Thembalani Pikashe, and Constable Thabisa Matabeni responded to a call at 4.25am that a driver of a white sedan vehicle had filled up his vehicle at a petrol station in De Waal Road, Diep River, and was refusing to pay. The driver, with several people inside, sped off before the police arrived.
Constable Marais said Sergeant Pikashe and Constable Matabeni gave chase, following the vehicle to De Waal Road while also calling for assistance from neighbouring stations.
The vehicle was shortly stopped on the M5 and was found to have been stolen earlier that evening in Grassy Park.
The men, aged between 17 and 28 years, were arrested and charged with theft and possession of a vehicle and possible further charges and linkages are under way.
