My dad took ill at the Lotus River Frail Care Centre on Thursday January 30.
In a short time the ambulance was there to take him to Victoria Hospital in Wynberg. The staff at hospital were amazing.
While I opened a folder with a friendly clerk ( who called herself Ganga ) he was changed, oxygen and a drip were commenced. A kind-hearted staffer in grey scrubs( I didn’t get her name) even took the time to look at my dad’s photo and show it to other staff.
The attending doctor, was so compassionate and kind. He explained my dad’s condition to my daughter and I. At a time when we were so stressed it was a real blessing to have such kind-hearted staff with so much of patience.
The emergency room had many other patients but my dad still got exceptionally good treatment. While standing next to my dad’s bed waiting to go for X-Rays, I noticed the staff so caring to the other patients as well. The staff at the X-Ray department were also so gentle and kind.
My dad was admitted into the male medical ward where a staff nurse assessed his condition while he was on the stretcher and immediately arranged for a special mattress for him. She did everything to make him feel comfortable and reassured me in the process. She was so willing to answer my questions.
Sadly my dad passed away the very same evening.
My family and I just want to say thank you to the amazing staff in each department that we had to interact with at Victoria Hospital. Your caring, compassionate attitudes at such a time was so heart-warming and reassuring and helped us deal with the helplessness that we felt.
We pray that your hospital will go from strength to strength and that the staff and their families will be richly blessed. Thank you once again.
