(“AWS has a long history of care”, Bulletin, April 12) written by Roshan Abrahams, accurately captured almost nine decades of history and concluded with an ambitious birthday wish list which included the desperate need for a replacement vehicle for our inspectorate.
I am delighted to inform you and your readers many of which are supporters and some of which are beneficiaries of the comprehensive range of services offered by AWS SA, that thanks to you and the kindness of your readers our long list of needs is not quite as daunting as originally published thanks to the magnanimous generosity of William Simpson, principal dealer of William Simpson Cars Tokai, who upon becoming aware of our dire need for a replacement inspectorate vehicle, unhesitatingly donated a brand-new Nissan NP 200 LDV to the
society.
At the hand-over ceremony of the vehicle, William said: “ It is sincerely a great pleasure, and even more so after my visit this morning, I was truly humbled by the dedication of so few, for such a great cause.”
Since then we have received confirmation that an international donor has also pledged a significant sum which will enable us to buy another sorely needed vehicle for our education and outreach team which does amazing work within the local community, transforming the lives of many otherwise unfortunate animals.
It is unlikely that we would have been as blessed and fortunate as we have been without your partnership and the recognition of your broad spectrum of readers.
Despite the obvious need for our many and varied animal welfare and animal protection services, we sadly receive absolutely no funding from the government and are entirely dependent on the goodwill and
generosity of the public and caring local business icons such as William Simpson who exudes a genuine compassion for society.
