The Thursday Club celebrated its ninth anniversary at Catharina’s Restaurant, where Sandy Bailey launched the club in August 2009. A delicious lunch and elegant Steenberg wine preceded Francoise Malby-Anthony speaking about her book, There’s an Elephant in My Kitchen: What the herd taught me about love, courage and survival. The Thursday Club is a lunch club, which meets once a month at various venues, including Buitenverwachting, Jonkershuis at Groot Constantia and Kelvin Grove. Some of the interesting and topical speakers have been Helen Zille, Jacques Pauw, Tim Noakes and Mandy Weiner. Anyone can join and membership is free.
