I so enjoyed the front page article on wild flowers on the verges (“Pilot project for verges”, Bulletin November 2).
I wrote this poem six years ago, around the time council mowed the verges and open spaces so severely that they eradicated flowers in many open spaces. The beautiful, white, spring daisies that carpeted the open south-west corner of Kendal and Main roads a case in point.
