The annual wine harvest commemorative event takes place at Groot Constantia Estate on Thursday February 7 in three parts – the blessing on the harvest; the commemoration of the wine industry’s 360th year of existence; and the honouring of a wine icon or institution with the special 1659 medal of honour for his, her or its contribution to the industry.
This medal has been awarded since 1974 to people who have made a significant mark in the wine industry. South Africa’s unsung wine workers were the collective recipient of this prestigious award in 2018.
Tickets cost R800 per person and include a three-course meal by Simon’s Restaurant with award-winning Groot Constantia wine and entertainment by the Gugulethu Tenors.
Table bookings for eight to 10 people are also available.
