The annual Wool for Wonders campaign organised by Wynberg Girls’ Alumnae ended last week Monday August 12 with a handover assembly at Wynberg Girls’ High School. A total of 85 pre-schoolers from Tin Mugs in Vrygrond received donations of blankets, knitted teddies, jerseys, beanies and scarves. They were one of the many other organisations including Nazareth House and Mowbray Maternity Home who received over 2 000 knitted goods this winter from the campaign. Wynberg Girls’ Alumnae wished to thank Bargain Books who donated 80 toddler books to each of the pre schoolers from Vrygrond. The Wynberg Girls’ Alumnae would also like to thank everyone who knitted and donated to the Wool for Wonders campaign this year. Although the main campaign ended with the handover assembly, they are still keen to receive donations of knitted items. There are still over 2 000 squares which need to be sewn into blankets, and should readers wish to assist, they can contact the school on 021 764 2200.
