Patricia Demas, Bergvliet High School principal
We are thrilled that our matriculants will have a chance to exhibit their art at the Bergvliet High School Art Exhibition at Blue Route Mall from Tuesday October 15 to Saturday October 19.
This exhibition gives Bergvliet High School matric art pupils a chance to show their talent in the same way their dance, drama and music peers have done on various stages over the years, including the Baxter Theatre, Artscape, GrandWest’s Grand Arena, the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre and the National Arts Festival.
Bergvliet High School has developed many talented individuals, one of them being Derric van Rensburg, who is internationally known for his superb impressionist paintings and is widely rated as one of South Africa’s top artists.
The Grade 8, 9, 10 and 11 pupils will also have a chance to display their best work at the exhibition.
In 2022 and 2023 our pupils were invited to participate in the UCT Irma Stern Museum celebration of her work. Beah Share and Jamie Poggenpoel exhibited in 2022 and Alexa Mehl and Reece Swartz in 2023. This year, Cassidy de Hahn, Maxine Daniels, Jayda Damon and Zarah Koen were invited to submit their work to the Irma Stern Museum for display until the end of September and then at Iziko Museum for another month.
We encourage you to purchase a copy of the 2025 Visual Art Calendar, at a cost of R100, as a lasting memory of the talent on display, and leave a comment in our visitors’ book.
