Golf day

Yaaseen Jardine

Well-known South African television presenter, actor, fashion designer and golf enthusiast Masego “Maps” Maponyane invited Mitchell’s Plain Golf Club (MPCG) members Yaasien Jardine, 10, and Marwaan Avon, 14, to attend his second annual invitational charity golf day at Pearl Valley, earlier this week.

The event was hosted to raise funds for the Bursary Network, which supports underprivileged children.

Maponyane reached out to MPGC, inviting the two young members to participate in the star-studded celebrity charity event, hosted at South Africa’s second best golf course.

The event was participated in by popular stars such former Bafana Bafana player and current Head Coach of Cape Town Spurs, Shaun Bartlett, Supersport presenter Dan Nicol of the Dan Nicol Show, and former Springbok player Schalk Brits to name a few.

Jehad Kasu, co-chairman of MPGC, said: “Maps ensured that the boys arrived in style. He arranged for a Mercedes Benz to pick them up from and drop them at their homes in Montrose Park. This caused much fanfare for the other kids at home, who witnessed the progress our members have made over the past two years by participating in our golf development programme. We hope these opportunities inspire our members to do their best, and for new members to join.”

“In addition to the opportunity for them to play with Maps at the event, they were each also presented with a brand new pairs of Adidas golf shoes, sponsored by Adidas Golf.
